Competitive Teams
This is the first year Digby Dance Studio has offered competitive dance teams and we have had a great start, with our Senior team winning a Bronze, Silver, High Silver and a GOLD medal; and our Junior team winning a Bronze, Silver, and two GOLD medals and a Special Award for having great “attitude” on stage! We have one more competition left in May before we finish our awesome first year! It has been a very positive and rewarding experience for everyone! I am so proud of all the dancers for all their hard work all year! Way to go girls!
UPDATE - Our last competition was a little closer to home in Wolfville. Our teams took home 2nd and 3rd place trophies as well as participating in an awesome convention where they got to take lessons from dancers from the show "So You Think You Can Dance Canada"!

Our competitive teams are for the serious dancer who is committed to developing their skill and stage presence. We travel to 2 or 3 different Competitions in Nova Scotia where dancers get to perform their dance onstage for professional judges and receive written feedback and win great awards! Plus it’s a great way for dancers to connect with other students from all over the province who share the same passion – DANCE! The competitions are very friendly and supportive atmospheres, and inspire dancers to work harder and be their absolute best!
I will be offering 4 different teams for 2010/2011 (see schedule). What is now our Junior Team age range will be called Intermediate. Our Junior Team will be for ages 5-8, Intermediate ages 9-12, and Senior ages 13+. Auditions will be held on Saturday September 25th. (Times TBA) The Senior Teams will be divided into two levels, and an Advanced level will be offered for those who score 85% or higher in their audition, and are enrolled in at least two dance classes per week (any style).
Anyone who is enrolled in any class at Digby Dance Studio may audition for our Competitive Teams; and everyone who receives a score of 60% or higher is accepted to the Team! Dancers will be required to fill out an audition form and bring it the day of the audition, indicating which team they are auditioning for. If a dancer auditions for the Advanced Team and scores below 85%, they may still be accepted to the regular team. Dancers will be evaluated on Leg/Footwork, Use of Arms, Jumps/Leaps, Turns, Coordination, Flexibility, Strength, Musicality/Timing, Presentation/Style, Facial Expression, Focus/Effort, and Overall Technique.
The teams will be offered at an all-inclusive price of $375. This includes instruction/choreography/studio time, HST, all competition fees, and costume fees. Payment may be made in full or divided into 3 payments of $125 each. Because all competition fees are due before Christmas, I am unable to offer a longer payment plan. Fees are non-refundable once paid.
